Santa Hates Peekers: How to craft and post blog entries on holiday gifts?

This yuletide season is bringing out my creative side (as per usual) but this year I find myself on the horns of a dilemma: as each new project is finished, I want to take photos and post them here.

BUT:

Each of these projects is also a gift for either a family member or dear friend, to be opened on and/or in between December 22 and January 1.

So how do I write about what I’m doing (knitting, decoupaging, painting, jewelry crafting) without any of my loved ones peeking and catching on to which item is for them? Do I just post hints about what I’m doing and then post later?

Any advice?

  1. When I’ve done the same thing, I generally post a tiny peek-usually an extreme closeup shot of a very small portion of the item in question to both keep the gift as a whole secret, but also to show a little to entice and excite and set the stage for anticipation.
