(Advent Calendar, Day 2) New Kindle Cover Panels and Button

Crafting is sometimes like writing (or, thanks to George Lucas, film making): some projects are never quite finished.

In this case, I wasn’t completely happy with the results of my Victorian e-reader cover, so I decided to give it a new button and tinker a bit with the inside of the cover.

To make to front “flap” a little more stable, I bought two Realleather suede trip pieces from Michaels and trimmed them down to create an inside panel that could be secured to whole piece with cement compound.

The button was one I already had — it was one of four English military brass buttons (bearing the lion and the unicorn seal) I purchased from a gallery in Boystown last year the day before the fire and safety department forced them to move.

All in all, I think it turned out well. This particular project may finally be finished. And it’s improved on the template for future covers!
