Tedious Things in the Lives of Crafters #9: Armchair criticism

Specifically, the person who looks at your work (while you’ve still got the needle in hand) and informs you that your use of half-stitches to create your pattern is NOT, in fact, cross stitch, but rather some lesser bastard child of embroidery and needlepoint.

Me: “Bitch, is it pretty? Yes? All right, shut up, then.”

  1. I like the trend in new embroidery books to tell the reader to do stitching the way they want. As long as you are pleased with the result, it does not matter if someone thinks it is the “wrong way” of stitching.
