Favorite Videos: “Rain” by The Beatles

Last night, a storm front rolled in over Lake Michigan, bringing the summer sun and fun to a brief halt and interrupting a hole I’ve been in for the past couple of weeks. I thought of this song, written by John Lennon (another depressed person) during the band’s tour stop in Melbourne, Australia. A song about people’s complaints about the non-stop bad weather turned into a tract on how people never appreciate the good when they’ve got it and focus on the negative instead. In another respect, the song is about letting the rain — the bad stuff — fall and not hiding from it.

If the rain comes,
they run and hide their head,
they might as well be dead,
if the rain comes…

Rain,
I don’t mind
