Tedious Things in the Lives of Crafters #14: When your materials rebel

Never mind the cross stitch cloth — my embroidery floss is officially killing me.

Specifically, separating six-strand cotton floss into three sets of two-strand, so I can cross stitch and highlight the letters on my current project/gift more easily. Fiddly work, particularly when the floss would rather twist together like conjoined siblings rather than be separated.

This is going to take longer than I thought.

  1. LOL I feel your pain. I’m murder on skeins of thread. I tend to have to wind my thread on bobbins to prevent that. It takes a while but saves my sanity so it’s all good in the end.

  2. …… and that my friend is one of the main reasons I gave up counted cross stitch that and the fact that 18 count aida cloth is very very hard to see these days 🙂
