Favorite Videos: “Let’s Dance,” David Bowie

I ended up abandoning my shut-in lifestyle to go to a play last weekend. Liz, a friend and former colleague from the art college, left Chicago a few years ago to go to NYU and now co-manages miR Theatre, a non-profit theater company in south Florida. The play, Cereus Moonlight, is gorgeous and the narrative has a wonderful sense of melancholy derived from the mythology of the area its depicting (Rockledge, FL and the Indian River). During the curtain call, the cast and crew danced out on stage to this song.

The song, as well as the play, has stayed with me for most of this week and, subsequently, it revived some ruminations I’ve been having since the death of Philip Seymour Hoffman, much of which the Count sums up perfectly here.
