“Fire the Cook” Cross Stitch Frying Pan

My collection of crafty family heirlooms continues to grow. This was a Christmas present my father commissioned for his mother — who, like a lot of mothers in the 1960s and ’70s cooked and didn’t really care if anyone liked it or not. My friend’s mother made it and it hung in my grandparents’ kitchen for almost 16 years until my grandfather finally moved. The yellowing cloth comes from, I suspect, a mix of olive oil from cooking on the stove and nicotine from his cigars. I love it.
