One of the wonderful things about new relationships is finding common ground and interests and, for crafters in new relationships, being appreciated for the work you put into a project. My girlfriend liked my necklaces and she also likes Adventure Time. I thought Fiona the Human would suit her rather well.

Bead Landing silver ball-chain necklace with lobster claw clasp
Bead Landing 7mm silver jump ring
16-count Aida antique white cross stitch cloth
5 Rabbit Bottle Cap
Push pin
Pringles lid
Birch coffee stirrer
Black cotton embroidery floss
White cotton embroidery floss
Ecru cotton embroidery floss
Royal blue cotton embroidery floss
Medium blue cotton embroidery floss
Mustard yellow cotton embroidery floss
Green cotton embroidery floss
Jewelry pliers
Ultimate Crafting glue
Sewing needle

Part of working with a small frame is picking out the details that are most important to the overall design. The straps of Fiona’s backpack went by the wayside — her bunny hat did not! Even made of white floss on an off-white background (someone’s going to have to break out the Rit for future designs…), it pulls the character together.

Her loose tress of blonde hair (unlike Finn’s overall cover) was also vital to making her recognizable.

Thanks to a generous friend in Boystown, I had my pick of 100+ bottle caps to choose from to be Fiona’s bezel/cross stitch frame. I went with the puckish rabbit that serves as the logo for 5 Rabbit Brewing Co.

Oh my glob! All set! Unfortunately blinding background aside, I think our girl turned out pretty good. What do you guys think?

  1. It’s cute but it reminds me of Alice from Alice in wonderland, but, I’ve only seen adventure time a handful of times, die hard fans would probably get the reference much better than someone like me

  2. 5 Rabbit Brewing Company is the bottle cap I used for this project. Their logo is a smiling rabbit — suitable for Alice.
