Season’s Greetings Stamped Necklace

Time and energy were not on my side this year when it came to planning yuletide gifts, but I did manage to hammer out a few good pieces just in time for family celebrations. My cousin is a globe hopper and her most recent travels (Italy for Thanksgiving) inspired me to do something with a bit of international flare for her present.

24″ stainless steel ball chain with connector
Antique brass beaded charm
1/16″ letter stamp set
1″ aluminum blank with drill hole
7mm anodized aluminum jump ring
Jewelry pliers
Jewelry anvil
16-ounce claw hammer
Rubber hammer
Electrical tape
Scissors

The steel bench block jewelry anvil is one of my smarter purchases in the last year, cutting down on the time and anxiety I had in all the years I used my improvised work surface (a Missouri clay brick wrapped in painter’s tape).

The electrical tape ended up being a lifesaver when it came time to stamp — making sure the blank stayed fixed to the anvil, and giving me a clear visual mark to make sure the letters lined up straight when I stamped them.

For the text, I selected greetings in languages for the countries my cousin visited on her recent trips (Italy, France, Germany, Turkey, Spain). For the charm, I went with an antique brass piece I had in my craft storage — the shape reminded me of the Eiffel Tower.

I was really pleased with how this one turned out — and my cousin loved it. What do you guys think?
