Scotland the Brave Knitted Wrist Band

Well, I gave it a shot. Intarsia and me are not old friends but, for the weekend, we gave it the old college try. Two of my dearest friends recently returned from abroad and one of the presents they brought me was a ball of Studio Donegal Aran Tweed from Dublin. I was a inspired (and, geographically, diverted).

Studio Donegal Aran Tweed wool yarn
Loops and Threads turquoise medium weight acrylic yarn
Caron Simply Soft cream medium weight acrylic yarn
US 6 needles
Yarn needle
Scissors

Trust me to get an idea at the precise moment when I’m away from home without a pad of graph paper. This pattern was sketched out quickly in a dark movie theater, lit by the light of my cell phone.

I don’t usually appreciate light flare in my photos, but it’s making my stitches look more impressive than they are.

I’m not great with the mattress stitch, but this is probably the best seam I’ve ever completed for a wrist band.

And done! Just to wrap things up, here’s the finished product with The Complete Poems of Robert Burns.
